“If you want to quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far - go together.”

This was not my first trip to Africa - and I hope it will not be my last. But it was the first time I have been privileged to shoot a bride in this beautiful, enchanting land.

I have never met anyone who has come back from Africa unaffected. This surreally majestic place gets under your skin and into your soul and stays there.

I've been on many photographic safaris here in Africa and have seen and captured some incredible moments with the wildlife and the landscape, but this opportunity presented something quite different for me and I loved every minute.

When Carla from Silk & Honey asked me to take a stunning designer gown and some organic, mineral makeup to Africa and style a wedding shoot, I was like, PERFECT!

The place we were staying, Selinda Camp, is part of the Great Plains Conservation Park in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Their efforts to conserve, restore and protect the natural wildlife of this visceral, vibrant region is just amazing. Elephants, lions, hippos - you see them all in their natural, free environment. So, of course, using Inika Organic on our models was ideal! Sustainable, vegan, no animals harmed - just perfect!

And the beautiful gown from A La Robe looked like it was made for this part of the world. So ethereal and flowy, dreamy and light, the ivory colour reflected the golds of Africa.

The whole time I was thinking, what an amazing place for a wedding! A luxurious lodge in the middle of a wildlife sanctuary, every guest staying at Selinda Camp contributes to the preservation and protection of all the animals and landscapes of the Great Plains. What a wedding gift to yourselves, Africa's precious wildlife, and the world!
